FAQ
1. How are the incoming faxes routed?
Question: How does the FaxGwise Server define
who the recipient of incoming facsimile is?
Answer: incoming faxes are recognized by the
sender's dialed fax number. With the help of this number it's
possible to define who should receive the fax. FaxGwise Server has
the list (Routing -> MSN/DID) of fax numbers and definite
recipients. This list is filled from the GroupWise address book
which is set in the configuration.
Example: new user should receive the fax. He's
given the additional direct fax number 1234 -> Enter the new
GroupWise user to the chosen address book (usually "fax server").
Thereby you need only "Mail" and "Fax number" fields. You should
always use the "dash" as the separator for the dialing number. You
can control the record under Routing -> MSN/DID in the FaxGwise
Server Management Console.
2. How can I forbid the user who should receive the fax to send
it?
Question: How can I forbid the user who should
receive the fax to send it?
Answer: you can enlarge the record data of the
following user in GroupWise address book in the definite user's
field "vfx_Send Allowed". Then the meaning of this field must be
set as "no".
3. Where can I save returning documents?
Question: where and in which format can I save
the returning documents (for ex. the terms and conditions that
usually are being attached to faxes by the means of @@command).
Answer: if you want to use these returning
documents, it's recommended to establish them as a pattern on the
fax server. In the internal template editor you can mark the
document as "Enclosure", in the Client these "Enclosures" look like
following page to the command.
First of all you should activate the notion of following pages if
necessary (in the fax formula -> additional field ->next
document). When you want to use finally @@command, you can ask for
the command @@ enc additional name@@ (for ex. @@enc trip to
Berlin@@, "trip to Berlin" is the name which will appear in
FaxGwise Server Console and in Fax Client).
4. Why is my GroupWise login not working?
Question: I always get error reports (in
protocol) which say that definite GroupWise functions are not able.
What can I do with it?
Answer: check please your login on the fax
server account directly for the GroupWise-Client. Pay attention to
the fact that GroupWise starts in Online Modus (not Caching or
Remote) and that username and password should match with the input
data in FaxGWise Server configuration.
Notice: first you should put it manually to the GroupWise Account
"fax server".
5. How can the facsimiles which come to definite user be
printed automatically?
Question: How can the facsimiles which come to
definite user be printed automatically?
Answer: enlarge the record of the definite user
in GroupWise address book, in user-defined field "vfx_printer
name". Put it then as the meaning of printer's name. This printer
should be set correspondingly on the server. Besides it's important
to apply the field "vfx_Routing Mode". If you want to print
incoming faxes as well as e-mail them, then you need to put the
meaning "Mail and Print". Also you can alternatively choose "Print
only" or "Mail only" meanings, just to limit the delivery in
certain extend. If all incoming faxes are printed on the same
printer, we recommend using the option "Print All Injobs". You can
choose it in menu item configuration -> fax controller ->
FaxGwise Server Management Injobs.
6. Where can I find TAPI settings?
Question: where can I find TAPI settings?
Answer: you can find them in control
panel/telephone and modem options. FaxGwise server needs the
records for landlines and worldwide.
7. What address book should I use?
Question: what address book should I put to the
configuration?
Answer: address book which was put to the
configuration is used for allocation of incoming faxes, for
checking of the sender's and recipient's authorization, and
checking for the amount of licensed users. It's not necessary to
choose the GroupWise system address book. We recommend you to use
fax server's address book (address book "Fax server").
8. Should I have the Novell Client?
Question: I didn't save server configurations
to the NDS. Should I have the Novell Client then?
Answer: yes, in present version the Novell
Client is necessary for server.
9. Should I have Microsoft Word?
Question: should I obligatory have Microsoft
Word on server?
Answer: No, from the Version 3.3. It's not
necessary to install Microsoft Word for server or client.
Notice: it occurred only in earlier Version 3.2.
10. Can I activate test installation?
Question: I have test installation and
meanwhile got the License. Should I install new FaxGwise
server?
Answer: No, you can activate the current test
installation just by entering the registration key (Tools ->
Registration).
11. How does the configuration of test installation run?
Question: FaxGwise is installed as test
installation and need to be configured. Should the necessary
parameters in configuration menu with Common/NDS Parameter be
applied manually by the means of Consoleone in NDS? And what should
be put to the field "fax server object" and how it'll be
applied?
Answer: it's possible to install FaxGwise so
that the record would be saved in INI-data. This setting is
preferred for most FaxGwise users. In this case the "NDS Parameter"
record can be cancelled. In Extras directory on the CD you can find
Idif-File (LDIFvivex - scheme - faxgwise - add.ldif) that
undertakes scheme extension. It applies new NDS-object class
(recommended derived server-object) and equipped with additional
attributes. The field "Fax server object" contains in this case new
objects including context.
12. Why does my FaxGwise server not working?
Question: Each time when I'm trying to run
FaxGwise server, it turns to the "non started" status. How can I
find out which installation is wrong?
Answer: the best way is to look through the
protocol records (Tool / Protocols) in FaxGwise Server Management
Console. When you're inspecting last error records you can find in
most cases really acceptable directives to some non functional
details' components.
13. Why after the update FaxGwise Client is not started?
Question: I installed an old version of
FaxGwise Client. Then I installed the new version setup and updated
it. After that FaxGwise Client didn't start any more. Also the
error report appeared after the starting GroupWise. What should I
do?
Answer: It's possible that the problem with the
installation of FaxGwise was taken from the previous version. It
should be enough to delete old installation from Windows registry.
Start please "regedit" program. Delete the key
"HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Vivex\FaxClient". After this FaxGwise
Client should start working. Don't forget to activate installation
in configuration settins.
14. Is it possible to install the new version while updating
without deleting the old one?
Question: Is it possible to install the new
version while updating without deleting the old one? Is it enough
for Data vxFax.ini to create Backup (if it's not possible), to
guarantee the configuration? Should the Client be updated all the
time?
Answer: it's advisable to guarantee data bank -
data ("\db\faxdb.mdb") and data vxFax.ini each time. When you
updated an old FaxGwise-Version (< 3.5) you can change an old
one to new data bank but with the usage of Database-Import-Tool
(under callable FaxGwise-Console) because the table's structure was
extended. You can't install different FaxGwise server versions
parallel. You don't need to update client all the time.
15. Is there any printer driver for terminal server?
Question: is there any special printer driver
for terminal server?
Answer: there's an installation routine for
printer driver since FaxGwise Version 3.5. Printer drivers'
variants for terminal service and Win NT/2000/XP were summarized
and setup recognizes the installed settings automatically. If you
want to install printer drivers manually you can find the
installation routine in the directory "\printer\printersetup.exe".
Since Windows 2003 runs standard with active terminal service the
mentioned TS-printer-driver is installed automatically.
16. Why do I receive the error report "Fax can't be send"?
Question: Should I receive back the sent fax
from Client after the error report "fax can't be sent"? On the
server I can see that mail got to the "vxFax Work" directory and it
was correctly converted to the "\1.rtf", but in front of the sent
faxes stands LOG: "Could not convert file to Fax". What's the
reason?
Answer: the most important is that printer runs
properly on the server but not on the client. The cover page is
first converted on server. Also here can be used (at the moment)
another printer driver (also not from the client) and it's called
"FaxGwise fax printer" but not "FaxGwise printer". Check please in
protocol are there any events like for ex. "Fax Toolbox - On
Printer End" or "On Printer Start" (log-level raise), only then fax
server can get data from printer driver. Afterwards generated
Bitmaps should be located in the subdirectory by the mentioned
"1.rtf". File "1.rtf" is a complete pattern that is converted into
the Bitmap format with the help of printer driver. Incoming faxes
don't need printer driver to be converted and are not affected by
this problem. Also it's necessary to know that on the server since
Version 3.5 other printer drivers are used. They can't use the
installed FaxGwise 3.5 printer together with FaxGwise Server
3.5.
